This week at our monthly fasting and prayer gathering I was asked to speak a little about being a Godly father and husband etc. In my seeking God about what He Feels about the subject I was blown away by what I heard and experienced.To keep it simple and shorter I will mainly focus on the word Father. The word Father is deeply connected to Husbandry and Leadership.

In Genesis 1 we immediately see the nature of The Father who “hovered” over the face of the waters, over the void, over the deep.
Genesis 1

New King James Version (NKJV)
The History of Creation

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

He did not just walk by or glance. HE HOVERED. Any other entity would have given up on this deep chaotic void called earth but the Father waits, and hovers. He tends and nurtures with great care, grace, and mind blowing power. He believes this creation is the proverbial “little train that could”. That “hovering” speaks deeply of Our Father’s patient power and authority seeing potential. God our Father encourages and creates from love. He encourages and guides us to what seems like an absurd wasteful degree to mere men. No matter how many sins, issues, or twisted barf we are covered in He sees clearly our naked core that He made. Beauty covered in ashes does not make it ashes. Beauty is beauty from its blueprint, not its current fashion or carnal coverings. Many men in the bible were dumbfounded when God talked to them about who they really were and what they would do.

Men live like dogs but they are designed and commissioned to live the impossible. We are GOD men and GOD women, children of GOD, sons and daughters of GOD. We are His image and artwork shown to creation. We are a living document outlining his nature and beauty. It blows my mind to think about it. It’s dumbfounding.

Back to God creating out of love as a Father, whatever He says happens and goes. When He says “let there be light,” it is. Authority beyond reason is behind His words. Ezekiel spoke to dry bones and they came alive regardless of their state. Jesus spoke to dead Lazarus to come forth out of the tomb and he did. It was not up for debate or choice.

Men and fathers who dwell in deep relationship with God do the same. They look upon our Father and become like Him and in the process they are cleansed of pride, selfishness and destructive leanings. These men don’t have to demand honor respect subtly or obviously. They are honor and respect. One is humbled just to be near them because they embody God. Many men crave to be honored, respected and glorified but they live dishonorably and disrespectful. They seek what they have not sown and wish only to consume. God gives abundantly to open rivers, not mud puddles.

Fathers or Pharoahs

True fathers are not pharoahs (or Pharoahsees aka Pharisees). They do not use power or position for there own selfish pleasure or prideful benefit. We have a nation of Pharoah men that have lived for this world and not eternity. We have seen some of the worst of this in The Penn State Football scandal where money, sports, and ambition were more important than sexually abused children. In church we have priests and pastors sexually abusing children and skilled, corrupt male lawyers getting them off. An entire cycle of the abuse of money, sex, and power surrounds us. Men must take a stand and not justify sin, or ignore it like Eli and other male leaders in the bible.

Men have become so dull and asleep that we do not address or stand as true guardians. Our silence is cowardice and enables destruction. Father are ones that construct not destroy. All men have a choice and we have all been a like Pharoah at some point because we have all sinned. The path of the Pharoah is the path of willful sin, but the path of the Father is path of righteousness. Jesus exemplified fatherhood, husbandry and leadership as he lived the way, truth and life. His power was used to help & save, empower and free. I am very thankful to have met honorable men who were true fathers that have impacted me greatly. I pray we would walk in their footsteps of love and sacrifice.

Modern is that which is in the manner or measure of what is now. We seem to love and many times worship everything that is new. Our society seems to wait with bated breath to hear what is the latest [...]

Modern is that which is in the manner or measure of what is now. We seem to love and many times worship everything that is new. Our society seems to wait with bated breath to hear what is the latest greatest gadget, thing or idea. To mainly concentrate on the modern in life is small and short sighted. Anyways, what is Modern truly sits and is upheld by the past and what has gone before it. The bible talks in Ecclesiastes about this (see below).

Ecclesiastes 1:8-11

“The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor the ear filled with hearing.
9 That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which it may be said,
“ See, this is new”?
It has already been in ancient times before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things,
Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.”

God and His ways and designs are eternal. He is both ancient and modern since He is omnipresent ( He has existed forever). The ancient part of God we know some of, by scripture and revelation in the bible. The “Modern” we know of God is what we experience now including the current revelations we receive from Him. We must be like Him, living in a eternal mindset and lifestyle following the life of Jesus who showed who, and what God is. Many live and act as if God is some old, boring, impersonal, fuddy-duddy. God has been seen as outdated and primitive in our plastic pleasure culture. Primitive, Yes. He is the primary, the first and foundation of the universe. Outdated, No way. He is ancient and beyond bleeding edge modern. He lives beyond all time and He only gave gifts to men that have enabled them to build this current modern world. So dont adore the current creations but the eternal Creator.

Live not just for the now and temporary trappings of the world, but live for the long haul. The modern shall become history tomorrow so don’t worship it or your life will be a hollow gong, a fad, a weak noise in eternity. Live with a “Gods eye view” of life and existence. We are all truly people made of the past, present, and future since we are the sons and daughters of the One who was, and is, and is to come.

modern
“of or pertaining to present or recent times,” c.1500, from M.Fr. moderne, from L.L. modernus “modern,” from L. modo “just now, in a (certain) manner,” from modo “to the measure,” abl. of modus “manner, measure” (see mode (1)). In Shakespeare, often with a sense of “every-day, ordinary, commonplace.” Slang abbreviation mod first attested 1960. Modern art is from 1807 (by contrast to ancient); modern dance first attested 1912; first record of modern jazz is from 1955. Modern conveniences first recorded 1926.

mode (1)
“manner,” late 14c., “kind of musical scale,” from L. modus “measure, rhythm, song, manner” (in L.L. also “mood” in grammar and logic), from PIE base *med-/*met- “to measure, limit, consider, advise, take appropriate measures” (cf. L. meditari “to think or reflect upon, consider,” mederi “to look after, heal, cure;” O.E. metan “to measure out,” Gk. medein “to rule”). Meaning “manner in which a thing is done” first recorded 1660s.

I had a piece I wrote back in February that I found and feel I should share now. God Bless

2-27-10 Earthquakes and shakings

I stand in awe of the recent earthquakes, including the Chilean earthquake that just happened today that was 8.8. It tore asunder huge cement highways, thick pillars, and buildings. It broke apart things that have been around a long time.

I feel this is a symbol and analogy of what God is doing out of his love as he woos our heart to turn from our sin, false structures, developments, and imaginations. If we chose to not tear down, restore, and make them right he is forced to remove them as gently as possible before we are totally “self destroyed”. Our Father holds all power and it is nothing for him to bring to dust these huge, seemingly invincible, mammoth, structures we have built.

They have stood even unknowingly as memorials to our futility, self exaltation, lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, and pride of life. Today is their last day and they will come down at a moments notice. Years of our futile investment made to nothing. What can be shaken will be shaken and what is left will be beautiful. What is left has shown its strength and worth. Oh what beauty in Gods strength. He shakes the things that need to fall through to leave what is beautiful, what is just, what is pure, what is noteworthy, what is love.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NIV)

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” (Revelation 3:21 KJV)

The word “overcome” is a invitation to “come over” and “cross over.” The troubles and mountains of life have a great blessing on the other side. I see God smiling and inviting us to a banquet, beautiful things and places. He’s beckoning us to come over and experience his goodness like a grandmother calling her family to a Thanksgiving feast. We have to cross over our “Jordan,” some obstacle, to experience many of the great things of God.

It is through the pressure of bad situations that bad things are rubbed off of us or cleansed. We have a choice – we can either worship God or whine. We can ask God, “Why?” but this is not very productive. Or we can ask “What does this mean, God?” or “What do you think or feel about the situation?” Then when we hear what our Father is saying, our hearts can align with His. This is overcoming. I have learned when I am going through something difficult, I need to look to God’s face and his smile. Then I feel at peace. It is written that Jesus “for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross.” Jesus saw the Father and multitudes of people smiling, full of joy because of salvation.

In John 16:33 as quoted above, the word “overcome” is originally derived from the greek word “nike,” which means “victory”. Overcoming is being victorious! This is the character of Christ Jesus! So next time you see a Nike shoe, think about Jesus and how He gave us power to overcome anything. Yes, anything! Yeha!

One baby changed the world, conquered sin, death, and all evil – Jesus.
One baby delivered Israel – Moses.
It goes on and on.
6 billion+ people in the world bearing the image of God powerfully whether they know it, like it or not.
Babies change the world.
YOU ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE.
Fearfully made - You are a terror to darkness. As you were formed in the womb each and every body part being formed brought more and more fear to the heart of darkness. The devil sought to kill Moses and Jesus when they were both babies. Why would someone want to kill something so physically weak? That’s because each person reflects the image of God, The Father of Lights, The Almighty. We are His spitting image. Imagine the Devil having to look at 6 billion CHILDREN OF GOD! The only option he has is to try to break us from relationship with God or cover who we really are with lies.

The bible says our children are arrows (arrows of God – Psalm 127:4) and women launch these rockets from the womb into Earth through childbirth. They release a weapon of mass destruction to darkness. The birth of a child of God is greeted with screams from hell. Our children are powerful, even in their weak frames, because they are dedicated to the Lord. They are within the covenant that we create with God. When a Christian husband and wife have conceived a baby, darkness is not happy and will fight it because this child is a son or daughter in covenant with the Most High God. We are the children of the keeper of the universe. Read Psalm 139. It is amazing.

Psalm 139

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
<sup>2</sup> You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
3 You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
<sup>6</sup> Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.

7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
<sup>8</sup> If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall[a] on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;
12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

<sup>13</sup> For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[b]
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
<sup>18</sup> If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

19 Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God!
Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.
<sup>20</sup> For they speak against You wickedly;
Your enemies take Your name in vain.[c]
21 Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
<sup>22</sup> I hate them with perfect hatred;
I count them my enemies.

<sup>23</sup> Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

“Be still and know that I am God”. What a powerful verse. There is a place in stillness that we know God. Without stillness we will not know God. As we allow God to calm us and remove the noise and interference of the world, the eternal opens up. Being quiet before the Lord spiritually, mentally, or physically brings focus and clarity. Things arise that have never been seen.

Stillness cures spiritual blindness where we don’t know what to do or where to go. It gives vision. Meditation within the stillness brings forth revelation and wisdom. The practice of stillness is difficult in a world that demands of our time and attention. Media of various kinds try to capture much of the substance of life which is time. If we want to know God we must spend time with God which is also called waiting on the Lord. Waiting requires faith & patience and faith & patience is required to obtain the promises of God (Hebrews 6:12). When it all comes down stillness is about resting from distractions & striving and just being with the one who truly loves us. His Love makes us come alive and we come out of the secret place with God in peace and confidence.
